Holidays Are Coming

Is your web site ready for the holidays? I have complied a list of questions you should be asking yourself now for the holiday season this year.

1- Do you have analytics (stats) in place?
How are you tracking your visitors?
2- Have you added holiday keywords to your web site or Pay Per Click campaign?
Are you going to be selling a hot new branded product or service or even something like, "holiday candles". Add the keywords to your site now.
3- Back to question one but...are you tracking your keywords to see what works?
Don't think you know what your uninformed site visitor knows when they put keywords in a search engine to find a product or service. You search with knowledge of your industry. Your average client does not. Those are the keywords you need to add as well as yours.
4- Have you linked your ads to a specific landing page?
Having all your ads link to your home page does not allow you to distinguish one ad from another when tracking them. For each ad, you should have a separate landing page. This will allow you to track it, going back to question one, what ads are working? This will help you answer that You can also target a landing page for a specific offer instead of just a home page. Got a hot item? Then feature it on the landing page instead of making them try and find it. We use to call that an "impulse buy".
5- Have you tested your ads and landing pages?
Nothing worst then assuming everything is working correct if you are going to budget for these campaigns. You would be amazed how many people don't check them.
6-Have you planned to increase your Pay Per Click Ad?
PPC ads are booming so the keyword bid is going up right along with the monthly budget. You should analyze you campaign to see  if your budget is keeping you banner on the first page.

The growth of this type of advertising means you must spend the time to understand this process and formulize a plan.
